I'm a sucker for the new year. Something about one year--an entire trip around the sun--coming to a close fills me with a sense of accomplishment. I finished something. And in the midst, grew into someone much wiser, much stronger than the year before. Becoming is a slow process. It is a transition, not a countdown to midnight. The funny thing is that, sometimes we need the sudden switch from 11:59 to 12:00 to notice that there was a process at all. To see that all this time we've been stretching and shifting and growing into something more.
2015 was a year unlike any before. I've felt both deep joy and utter confusion. Belonging and loneliness. Things weren't as black and white as I had known them before. Life expanded into something much larger than a classroom. Passions revealed their purpose. And through it all I was becoming.
Some highlights from 2015:
- Visiting Chicago. Twice.
- Interning (and now working!) for Open Book
- Photographing Andrea & Seth
- Creating social content for Coach
- Diving into the world of creative freelancing
- Exploring hand-lettering
- Photographing Sé and Chris in their home
2015 has also been a year of learning what it means to tell a story. And what it looks like to tell one thoughtfully. Which is why I am excited to share these images (and lettering projects) with you! Thank you to everyone that created something with me this year. Here's to a finished year. And here's to becoming as we enter a new one.
